Your Guide to the Fleet
APRIL  2016
Last Chance to See Zoo in You, Super Cells and More
This is the final month to see three of our current traveling exhibitions. All of them are set to leave our gallery floor in the first week of May.

In Zoo in You: The Human Microbiome, visitors will learn all about the complex ecosystem and trillions of different microbes that inhabit the human body.

Super Cells: The Power of Stem Cells teaches us all about stem cells, how they work in our body and the benefits of stem cells for science.

The Art of Science Learning explores how art and science can be used together to tackle important issues in our world, such as water conservation, food availability and transportation.

Our fourth current traveling exhibition, Taping Shape, is open for fun and exploration too, through mid June! The Fleet will be open late through April 3 for spring break. Now is a perfect time to come enjoy all of our exhibitions. More>>

Help the Fleet Reach Our Goal
The challenge is on! We have between now and May 1 to raise $25,000 for the Fleet's new pilot program, 52 Weeks of Science in Barrio Logan.

The Fleet has received a $25,000 grant from The Parker Foundation with a unique matching opportunity to double our funding. If the Fleet is able to raise another $25,000 from donors by May 1, 2016, The Parker Foundation will complete this challenge grant and donate an additional $25,000 for the 52 Weeks of Science program in Barrio Logan!

We need you to help by making a donation and spreading the word to your friends and colleagues about this special challenge grant opportunity. Please help the Fleet open a world of possibility to our local communities through science. Visit the 52 Weeks of Science page to learn more about the program or to make a donation. More>>

Science Talks for Adults
The Fleet hosts three special events in April geared toward adults who want to learn about science while perhaps enjoying a brew in a social setting.

On Monday, April 11, we host Suds & Science: What Are Your Genes Up To? Learn about the different roles genes play in our bodies in addition to genetic inheritance. A week later, on Monday, April 18, we bring you another Suds & Science on Science Research and Virtual Reality. This will feature a guest panel of artists and scientists discussing the practical applications of virtual reality for science and will be hosted in partnership with UCSD and the ArtPower Filmatic Festival. Last, on Friday, April 22, the Fleet presents Crossover: Where Comics and Science Meet. This first event in the series will focus on "Transformers and the Science of Robotics."

All events are 6:30 to 8 p.m. See the website for location and other details, and follow our Fleet After Dark Facebook page to find out about future 21+ science events.
