Your Guide to the Fleet
JANUARY  2016
Four New Exhibitions Opening in January
The Fleet is excited to welcome FOUR new exhibitions to our galleries during the month of January!

First, the Art of Science Learning opens on January 23. This innovative new exhibition explores how art and science can be used together to tackle water conservation, one of the most pressing issues facing the San Diego community today.

Also on January 23 we open Super Cells: The Power of Stem Cells. This exhibition will feature information and interactives on the benefits of stem cells for science.

A week later, on January 30, we open two more exhibitions!

Zoo in You: Exploring Our Microbiome is all about the trillions of different microbes that make their home inside our body, and how without them none of us would survive!

Last, we open Taping Shape, an exhibition developed right here at the Fleet. Over 60,000 feet of packing tape is used to create a structure that is part art installation, part play area for visitors of all ages to climb, slide, learn and explore in.

It's a lot to experience in one visit, so now would also be an excellent time to think about becoming a member so you can come back again and again to enjoy it all. More>>

Last Days for Imaginate and Don't Try This at Home
With all the new exhibitions coming in, it's time to say goodbye to our current traveling exhibition, Imaginate. Come to the Fleet this weekend for your last chance to test how much force it would take for you to fly or create a stop-motion video.

Also, after many last-minute renewals, our homegrown live science show, Don't Try This at Home, also ends its run at the Fleet. But if you miss it, you're still in luck because Don't Try This at Home is available to come to your school or birthday party! More>>

The last day for Imaginate and Don't Try This at Home at the Fleet is Sunday, January 3.

Learn How to Print Your Creations in 3D
The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center now has 3D printing in the Tinkering Studio! Use Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) techniques to design your own toys and structures, then watch as a 3D printer creates your model right before your eyes.

3D printing has helped spark the Maker Movement and revolutionized the way objects are made and designed all over the world.

The 3D printing workshop is available for ages 7+. Pricing for the three-session workshop is $80 for Fleet members and $90 for nonmembers. Advance registration is required. More>>
