New Fall Exhibition: Imaginate
Have you ever wanted to get inside the mind of a true innovator, understand the process of how new ideas come to be and--best yet--have lots of fun while doing it? Then Imaginate is the exhibition you need to see!

Imaginate has over twenty hands-on, interactive experiences that let you immerse yourself in the methods of innovation and critical thinking. You'll have the opportunity to create a stop-motion animation video, work with friends to create a new musical composition and do a little research and testing to see if you can create the best paper airplane the world has ever seen.

Imaginate is designed for curious minds of all ages. Through the experience of innovation in a fun environment we hope you'll see new innovative possibilities everywhere in the world around you. More>>

Imaginate runs from Saturday, October 3, until Sunday, January 3, in the main exhibit gallery space of the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center.

52 Weeks of Science Kick-Off
Join the Fleet and more than 50 partners for the kick-off party of a brand new science learning initiative in Barrio Logan and Logan Heights called 52 Weeks of Science. The idea is simple: find scientists and organizations with a desire to give back to the community, and help to organize a year's worth of fun weekly science learning events at parks, schools and other community venues.

For the Kick-Off Party, enjoy food, hands-on activities and interactive science demonstrations. Representatives from the 52 Weeks of Science planning group, San Diego City Council District 8, neighborhood schools, nonprofit organizations and volunteer associations will be in attendance too. More>>

Join us for the Kick-Off event on Tuesday, October 6, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Location: Logan Heights Branch Library, 567 S 28th St, San Diego, CA 92113.

Run the Energy Grid in Power Play San Diego
Ever wonder how the lights turn on at school, your home stays cool in the summer or how your cell phone recharges? Like all cities, San Diego has an electric grid that brings electricity from power plants, solar panels and wind turrets all the way to your school, home or office.

The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center teams up with San Diego Gas & Electric to debut a new exhibit that shows us how the power grid operates. Power Play San Diego lets you manage the power grid and balance the production of power against the demands. But make sure you do it right, because too much power or too little power may cause a black out! More>>

Power Play San Diego is now open in the upstairs mezzanine gallery of the Fleet.

Go Back to the Fleet-ure with the Fleet Night of Science
What's so special about the date October 21, 2015? It's the date Marty McFly time traveled to in Back to the Future II. If you're old enough to remember that, you're probably old enough to join us for our next installment of Fleet Night of Science, Back to the Fleet-ure!

For this event, we kick out the kids, stay open late for adults (21 and up), serve food and adult beverages and plan a night's worth of fun activities. You can dress in your favorite time-travel attire, build your own flux capacitor and attend a fascinating chat about the science behind some of your favorite sci-fi films. More>>

Wednesday, October 21, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are available online or at the Fleet ticket counter.

The Up-Cycling Revolution is Here
Have you heard of "up-cycling"? It's a way of taking objects that might otherwise be thrown away and turning them into objects for everyday use. Grocery bags, bubble wrap and produce sacks could become jewelry, wallets, notebooks and more.

The Fleet is hosting a special up-cycling workshop called Playing With Polymers. It's free for kids as part of Kids Free in October. More>>

Sunday, October 25, 11:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m. in the Tinkering Studio.

Playing With Polymers is made possible through San Diego Museum Council's Kids Free in October presented by ScholarShare Investment Board

Make Your Own Pet Dragon
With the Kingii Dragon Robot Kit you can assemble your own super lizard with artificial intelligence (AI). Similar to the actual Australian lizard, when this robot feels threatened, it bluffs the attacker, gapes its mouth, flashes its eyes and spreads and flaps its frill. When the robot does not sense danger, it might approach you just like a pet lizard.

The Kingii Dragon Robot Kit is $44.95 for nonmembers and $40.46 for members.
