Science Under the Big Top Rolls Into the Fleet!
Ladies and gentlemen! Boys and girls! The circus is coming to the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. This is your chance to enjoy the science behind the spectacle as CIRCUS: Science Under the Big Top debuts on Friday, May 1.

Every feature in CIRCUS: Science Under the Big Top is designed to teach visitors about science in a fun, interactive way. Strap into the harness for the Elastic Acrobatics exhibit to learn about physics as you practice your favorite trapeze tricks. If you dare--and you're 46 inches or taller--test your balance by walking across the 20-foot-long High Wire, six feet above the ground. Experiment with angles and thrust on the Human Cannonball exhibit, play with hand-eye coordination at the Juggling exhibit or just have fun clowning around at the Circus Costume Station. This exhibition has something for everybody! More>>

CIRCUS: Science Under the Big Top opens Friday, May 1.

Rock in the Park: Steve Poltz
Eccentric singer/songwriter Steve Poltz comes to the Fleet as the fifth and final headliner in our Rock In the Park concert series. Former front man of the Rugburns and collaborator with Jewel and others, Steve Poltz's music can be phrased as frenzied, hilarious and heartbreakingly sincere. His between-song storytelling is a fan favorite and has helped him keep a loyal fan base after 20+ years in the music industry. More>>

Listen to Silver Lining by Steve Poltz.

Doors open at 7 p.m., 21+ only; IDs will be checked at the door.

Tickets are on sale now! Purchase at the Fleet ticket counter or online.

Don't Try This Home Has Been Extended
Our popular live science show, Don't Try This at Home, has been extended through September 27!

If you haven't seen the show yet be sure to come join us soon to witness all the science that's too loud, too messy and too shocking to try at home.

Plus, check out the new Sideshow Science show to learn about the science behind your favorite circus acts, such as the Bed of Nails and Bowling Ball Pendulum. More>>

Shows are five times a day, seven days a week.

Become a Fleet Volunteer
The Fleet is looking for volunteers for summer positions. It's a fun way to stay connected with your community and become an integral part of the Fleet family. Volunteers also learn about science and have fun interacting directly with the visitors!

Apply online for volunteer positions as Summer Camp Counselors, Museum Ambassadors, Gallery Facilitators and Tinkering Studio Volunteers. Volunteers can set their own schedule and share their passion for science with the community!

Meet Scientists at Your Favorite Pub
Chosen by San Diego Magazine as one of the "27 Reasons to Love San Diego," Two Scientists Walk Into a Bar is a fun community program organized by the Fleet. We send 50 scientists out to 25 bars all over San Diego County to enjoy a beer and conversation and answer any questions you may have about science.

Our scientists will be easy to spot. They'll be next to a sign that says, "We're scientists, ask us anything." The full list of bars is on the website, plus listings of the specialties of each participant so you can be sure to visit the scientist best suited to answer your questions. More>>
