Camp Out at the Fleet
The kids are counting down the days till school's out ... and summer camps at the Fleet are just around the corner! Keep the scientific fun and learning going all summer long at the Fleet: half-day and full-day camps begin June 16. Summer camps delve into a range of different scientific topics, from "Gross and Gooey Science" and "Astronaut Camp" to "Biotech Bootcamp" and "Toy Lab," offering hands-on fun and learning for boys and girls ages pre-K through eighth grade. Several camps are already sold out, but a few more spots remain. Don't miss out ... register today!

Two Scientists Walk Into a Bar

What makes Mars red? Why is the ocean blue? Can a coin falling from the top of the Empire State Building kill someone? Any scientific question goes at this new event that connects scientists with the public at more than 50 bars across the county. Bring your questions, grab a drink and join in the fun and conversation! More>>

The Sky Tonight: Wonders of the Summer Sky

The days may be getting longer, but the nighttime offers some summer fun, too. Take a tour of the seasonal sky's cosmic phenomena -- from the Milky Way and stars to nebulae and planets -- during this month's live planetarium show, followed by real-life star-gazing on the patio. More>>

Saturday Science Club for Girls: Magic or Science?

Hocus pocus! Inspired by the Fleet's newest exhibition, ILLUSION: Nothing Is As It Seems, this month's Saturday Science Club will investigate fun science tricks that look like magic, as well as the science behind the trickery. Girls in fifth through eighth grades can join the Fleet on the second Saturday of each month to dig deeper into exciting science topics. More>>

Lights, Camera, Bugs

Insects are larger than life in this live-action IMAX® drama that follows the life cycles of a praying mantis and butterfly. Shot on location in the exotic Borneo rainforest, Bugs! features beautiful footage that brings you up close and personal with some of nature's tiniest creatures. More>>

Family Science Saturdays: Form and Structure

From snail shells and tree rings to bridges and buildings, different forms and structures are everywhere. Families are invited to the Tinkering Studio on Saturdays to explore the various building blocks that make up the world around us, as well as to create their own forms and structures, including suspension bridges, DNA models and more.


NEW! On June 28, the Fleet will launch the Tinkerers' Club (1-3 p.m.), where tinkerers of all ages can make their own terrariums using sand, gravel, soil and moss ($13/project). More>>

Senior Mondays

On the first Monday of the month, seniors 65+ enjoy the Science Center exhibits, a lecture and a Giant Dome Theater show at a discount! This month, learn about the volcanic evolution of Yellowstone's volcanic system and its "cataclysmic supereruptions," followed by a special screening of the IMAX film Ring of Fire, which examines volcanoes and seismic activity around the Pacific Rim. Girl Scout Sleepover at the Fleet

Calling all Girl Scouts: you and your

troop are invited to spend a night at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center! Get an all-access pass to explore the exhibit galleries (including the newest exhibition, ILLUSION: Nothing Is As It Seems), see a show in the Giant Dome Theater, interact at workshops and participate in a scavenger hunt, plus more fun activities during your overnight stay.

Open to Girl Scouts ages 6-13, with at least one adult female chaperone required for every five girls. Register by Friday, June 13, at (619) 685-5761 or by email. Learn More
