Wake Up with WOTFV Breakfast Event
Thanks to everyone who attended Wake Up with Weight of the Fox Valley Breakfast event on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. A special thank-you to our keynote speaker, Dr. Christina Economos, Associate Professor of the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University and Director of ChildObesity180. The feedback from this conference was extremely positive. Dr. Economos presented difficult statistics and recommendations in a straightforward and uncomplicated grace. Her recommendations to WOTFV are join the Billion Mile Race, serve child-size portions in every environment - childcare, schools, restaurants and home, and spread the message & advocate for change. We hope to continue the newfound connection with her.

Our Winner - Perla del Val |
Perla del Val, Beachbody Coach & Graphic Designer, is our Wellness Winner of the month. Like many, Perla struggled with her health after life changes took a negative toll on her body. After marrying her husband Luis and moving from Mexico to the United States, Perla found that she struggled to have children. Eventually, fertility treatments allowed their dreams of having children to come true, but a combination of overeating, sleep deprivation, and taking care of babies added stress to Perla's life. Perla says that time, "I was officially in the worst shape of my life and hated the way I felt, always tired with endless back pain. I needed to move my body."
