WOTFV Busy Summer
We hope you have had a wonderful summer. It's been a busy one for WOTFV.  We have initiated the Passport to Active Living and, more recently, the Fox Valley Active Playlist. Both programs will end on Sept. 30th.

Passport to Active Living

The Passport to Active Living Program is moving into its 13th week, and public participation is outstanding. The program has over 1,300 participants who signed up through local YMCA locations, food pantries, Salvation Army locations, libraries, or one of the other 27 distribution sites.

In October we will announce the names of the three winners of the grand prizes pictured below. Thanks to Scheels for the help providing prizes!

Remember, in order to qualify for any of these prizes, you must complete 12 weeks of the passport program and bring your passport into any YMCA, United Way office, or the Calumet County Health Department by September 30th.

The prizes are:
    • Fitness Watch - Garmin Vivofit 2: Get up and get moving with this lightweight activity tracker!
    • Shoes - Asics Gel-Evate: The new model shoe from Asics that boasts a luxurious ride thanks to a plush FluidRide™ midsole and increased GELŪ Cushioning, which appeals to feet from underpronators to moderate overpronators.
    • Bike - Fuji Crosstown 2.3LS Fitness
Fox Valley Active Playlist

Are you looking for some new music to listen to while out and about? The Weight of the Fox Valley has your gateway to new music that your fellow community members enjoy! All you have to do is sign up for Spotify, an online music program, and follow our community playlist at the link below.

Are you new to Spotify? We have made a quick tutorial and posted it to our website:  Weight of the Fox Valley Spotify.

By following, not only will you get to hear some of the community's favorite music, but you can also add your favorite songs to the community playlist to share with the rest of the Fox Valley.

If you follow and share your favorite music to the playlist by September 30th, you will be put into a drawing for prizes, so be sure to help make our playlist bigger and better!

Ask An Expert

Do you have a question about exercise, physical activity, or eating right? Weight of the Fox Valley is able to help! We have access to local experts who are willing to answer your questions on healthy living. Simply go to the topic you are looking for under the "Healthy Living" section of our website, and click on "Ask an Expert." Type in your question and an expert will help you as soon as possible!

We appreciate your continued interest in creating a community that together achieves and maintains a healthy weight at every age. If you have questions or know others that would like to be added to this newsletter please contact Deb Schmidt at deb.schmidt@unitedwayfoxcities.org

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
