Extended Rebates up to $8,000
The City of Santa Monica announces new expanded landscape rebates worth up to $8,000 designed to help homeowners and businesses save water and make the most of the upcoming El Nino rains.

With the forecast for heavy rains from this year's El Nino, recently dubbed "too big to fail" by JPL scientists, this is the ideal time to install a water-wise garden that has beautiful climate-appropriate plants and can collect and use the rain.

Landscape Rebates include:
  • Turf and Sprinkler Removal (up to $4,500)
  • Parkway turf replacement with climate appropriate plants (up to $1,500)
  • Installing rain harvesting system like rain barrels or cisterns ($200 - $2,000) and up to $40 per downspout for redirecting water from gutters
Even if you have already received your rebate for your lawn, you can still apply for additional rebates.

Congratulations!

Greening Your Business

Santa Monica has a thriving Green Business Community.  Business Leaders are making the choice to invest in environmentally-friendly practices and products and finding it is good for the environment and for business.

Green in your Pocket
Conserving water and electricity reduces utility bills.  Often investments in more efficient technologies like toilets, solar, rain barrels, or EV chargers come can be offset with rebates or other incentives.  Creating a healthier environment for employees also helps to reduce the number of sick days employees take.

Marketing Green
Nowadays, consumers are becoming more aware of the environmental impacts and health risks of products and environments. Businesses viewed as sustainable and earth-friendly
attract customers that care about their health and safety, as well as the planet.
