Santa Monica Public Library is envisioning the future of the organization through the process of strategic planning.  A major focus of this effort is to solicit input and engage a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that the Library's newly formed plan will meet the needs of the Santa Monica community.  During the month of April, public forums will be held at all library locations and all community members are invited to share their hopes and aspirations to help shape the Library's future.

Landscape Rebate Revamped

We've updated our popular landscape rebate program to help you replace your lawn and save water.

            • "Cash for Grass" incentive increases to $3.50 per sq. ft. turf removed
            • Maximum rebate increased to $4,500 per property
            • Updated requirements include new irrigation rules
            • Professional design consultations available for a small fee starting April 15.

and Sustainable Works! Learn ways to save money, positively impact your family, community, and the planet!  The workshops are ongoing, attend one meeting or all six, whichever fits your schedule.

 

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is proud to host the 8th annual Spring Green Expo. This unique one-day educational event is open to the public and is focused on educating the community on sustainability issues and how to live and work in a more environmentally friendly manner.

The SMCVB was a founding partner of Santa Monica's Green Business Certification Program, and was recently honored with the Platinum Adrian Award for Leadership in Sustainable Tourism from the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International and National Geographic Traveler.  


The SMCVB recently relocated to the historic Edgemar Center for the Arts. The administrative office features ample sunlight, repurposed equipment, décor and Trex flooring made from recycled wood and plastic. 


 


 

The UCLA Health System, is a member of Practice Greenhealth, the nation's leading membership and networking organization for health care institutions that have made a commitment to sustainable, environmentally preferable practices.


 

The cafeteria at the UCLA Medical Center-Santa Monica supports Santa Monica's Sustainable Food goal to reduce meat consumption by 15% by featuring a Meatless Monday dish. The cafeteria also sources local and organic produce and does not serve fried food.
