Home Collection for Household Hazardous Waste
Replaces Drop-off Service at City Yards
Saturday marked the end of an era as the storied Household Hazardous Waste Center closed its doors to the public after 20 plus years of distinguished service. Now, the "haz mat" technician comes to you with the new Home Collection Program, a service that has been up and running as a pilot for over a year.
Home Collection is safe, convenient, and easy to use; and it allows you to continue properly disposing of household hazardous wastes whenever it is convenient for you - and without needing a car.
The service is intended to capture the many products that we commonly use to clean or maintain our homes, cars and yards; products that contain hazardous ingredients (use of these products requires proper handling, storage and disposal considerations at all times). Now, unwanted products can be collected directly from your home, you don't even have to be home at the time of collection. The Home Collection service takes approximately two weeks from the initial call to complete and is provided free of charge to residents.
The Home Collection service is provided in a few easy steps:
- Reserve collection service: call (800) 449-7587, Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
or e-mail atyourdoor@wm.com; - Receive collection kit in the mail (includes detailed instructions with collection day reminder);
- Prepare collection kit at your doorstep or at a predetermined location on collection day;
- Leave prepared materials and we'll do the rest
