Eat Well Week: January 6th - 13th, 2013!
Santa Monica restaurants have a delicious solution for your New Year's resolution! To celebrate California Restaurant Month, good taste will meet healthy food this January during Santa Monica's inaugural Eat Well Week. Home to one of the country's best Farmers Markets, Santa Monica chefs are famous for creating fresh farm to table dishes that showcase Southern California's produce at its finest and prove that flavor does not always equal calories.
Sunday, January 6th through Saturday, January 13th, Santa Monica's top restaurants will offer discounted pre-fixe menus and new healthy menu options that satisfy both the wallet and waistline. Kick-off 2013 right and indulge guilt-free in Santa Monica. After your healthy meal, we recommend you hit the beach! You may not need that cover up after all.

Become an Environmental Steward Do you like science AND long walks on the beach? Then join our new citizen-based program, MPA Watch! Volunteers will be trained on how to collect data while walking along the most beautiful beaches of Malibu and Palos Verdes. Become a volunteer by attending the two-part training program which includes one classroom training and one field training session. Attendance at both sessions is mandatory.

What Is the Electric Car? Documentary Screening, Discussion, and Electric Car Exhibition

What Is the Electric Car? is an enlightening documentary that contains insightful interviews with key manufacturers, vendors, drivers and pioneers in the Electric Vehicle (EV) industry. It is predicted that the number of EVs on the road will continue to grow as new electric cars like the Nissan LEAF, Chevy VOLT, Ford Focus Electric, Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Fisker Karma, Tesla Model S, BMW Active-E, Coda, Wheego, Tango arrive in showrooms nationwide. Producer Scott duPont leads a Q&A session following the screening. A number of electric cars will be on view in the Library's north courtyard and parking lot.

Popeye Pop-ups

Popeye and his family will join three participating Eat Well Week restaurants - Locanda del Lago, The Lobster and Ocean & Vine to create "Popeye Pop-ups", featuring healthy spinach inspired dishes and recipes on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Downtown Santa Monica Farmers Market.
