Location of the Month               August 2015

Washington Filmworks uses our Location of the Month newsletters to showcase the diversity of unique looks and resources for production in a number of jurisdictions around Washington State. Find previous installments archived on our website and on the WF Blog

Washington Filmworks has enjoyed spotlighting state-wide cities throughout the past years on the Location of the Month newsletter, yet we decided to shake things up - starting with Seattle's own distinct neighborhoods. They are too diverse and film-friendly to ignore - therefore, we're excited to alter our approach and feature these different, inspired neighborhoods that are perfect destinations for all kinds of production.

NEIGHBORHOOD OF GEORGETOWN

Georgetown, Seattle's oldest neighborhood, is located 10 minutes from downtown Seattle and just East of the Duwamish River. The historic brick buildings of the Old Rainier Brewery keep Georgetown steeped in nostalgia of a bygone era yet still lend itself to the innovation of the industry and arts that not only thrives on the grit but finds beauty in its unique landscape and people.

Georgetown is host to several recurring events, most notably the Georgetown Carnival on the Second Saturday in June. The Georgetown Carnival is like our monthly Art Attack (an art walk with a Georgetown spin) on steroids, featuring the world famous Power Tool Races, live music, industrial, contemporary and visual arts, drag queens, acrobats, carnival sideshows acts and more. This one event draws up to 11,000 people a year. Some of the other events that are popular with locals and visitors alike include; Honkfest, Cross Pollinate Garden Walk, the Haunted History Tours and now a special Georgetown Bites event featuring the culinary expertise of Georgetown's eateries, breweries and wineries. All events are posted and updated on the

Georgetown Merchants Association web page as well as a map of sites and businesses.
