CITY OF MORTON
The charming city of Morton is located in the beautiful, tree-studded foothills of the Cascade Mountains, nestled between Mt. St. Helen's, Mt. Adams and Mt. Rainier. Surrounded by never ending forests and pristine rivers, outdoor recreational activities abound. Main Street, with its historic storefronts and wide corridor, lends a unique, quaint ambiance to the town. Residents enjoy the quiet pace of country living with easy access to big city amenities: financial institutions, a full service grocery and deli, hardware stores, beauty salons, churches, restaurants, the local newspaper, college campus and a hospital. Morton is also home to the meticulously renovated, 200-seat, 1937 Roxy Theater which offers live performances, concerts, events, and current movies. The Morton Visitor's Center, along with the restored 1911 Train Depot and the up-and-coming Interpretative Center, spotlighting local history, welcomes visitors. The major industries are manufacturing, timber, forest products and tourism.
For the past 73 years during the second weekend of August, the entire town celebrates the Logger's Jubilee, known as "the Granddaddy of all Logging Shows." Visitors come from all over Washington and neighboring states to enjoy the Jubilee, featuring Main Street parades, lawn mower races, a variety of logging contests and a Jubilee Queen Coronation. Whether as a resident or a visitor, Morton is a great place to be!
