Late yesterday,we learned that SB 6027 (the bill to increase funding for the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program) was not included in the final budget. It is our understanding that the only tax preferences that made it into the final budget were those that were expiring and there were no new preferences included. Save the date for a post-legislative events in Seattle (July 9) and Spokane (July 19).     New Board Member: Megan Ouellette

Governor Jay Inslee has appointed our newest Board Member, Megan Ouellette, to represent restaurant, hotel, and airline industry. Megan Ouellette has led Alaska Airline's local, state and federal government affairs activities from the company's Seattle headquarters since 2007, having started in the Washington DC office in 2005 as Director of Government Affairs.  Prior to joining Alaska Airlines, Ouellette was responsible for air transportation and homeland security issues for the congressional staff of former U.S. Rep. George Nethercutt. Washington Filmworks is excited to welcome Ouellette to the Board and organization. 

FMI Happy Hour with Rob Dunlop

Washington Filmworks is pleased to promote the July edition of the FMI Happy Hour and our special guest this month, Rob Dunlop, President and CEO of KCTS 9.

At the Happy Hour, Rob will address how the media industry is encountering disruptive forces, which are upending traditional methods of content creation and distribution. Public television, like all traditional media, is charged with redefining itself for new generations of media consumers. Rob will explore the media environment and how KCTS 9 (PBS) is adapting to create long-term sustainability. Join us on Wednesday, July 29, for this exciting event and conversation!
