Monthly Newsletter               November 2014

Washington Filmworks is hosting three Annual Industry Updates to look back on a year of great accomplishments and to discuss goals for 2015 and Legislative Session.

When and Where:

  • Seattle on Wednesday, December 3. Reception 5-6pm, Presentation 6-7pm at the Northwest Film Forum.
  • Bellingham on Tuesday, December 9. Presentation 6-6:30pm, Reception 6:30-8pm at the Pickford Film Center.
  • Spokane on Thursday, December 11. Presentation 6-6:30pm, Reception 6:30-7:30pm at Nectar Tasting Room.
Please join us for this very special year-in-review presentation detailing the 2014 industry strides of Washington Filmworks. Included in our discussion will be a recap of our successful summer shooting season and the triumphs of our Commercialize Seattle campaign and Filmworks Innovation Lab. We will preview our Legislative Awareness Campaign and look ahead to the 2015 Legislative Session starting January 12.

We hope to see you at one of the above events and join us in capping off another great year for the business of film and the statewide film industry!

At both of our Town Hall events, Executive Director Amy Lillard issued a call to action asking the film community to update Washington Filmworks with their legislative district information.

In 2012, the Washington State Redistricting Commission drew new boundaries for legislative districts. It's quite possible that your legislative district has changed. Please take a moment and identify your legislative district and let us know your district number so that we can keep you updated about your legislator's support (or not) of Washington's statewide film industry.

Our goal is to identify film industry professionals in every district of Washington State. Know your legislator, know your district, and make sure that your voice is heard! Please use the Washington State Legislature Finder to find your legislative district.

Then, please fill out this survey to let us know your district so that you can get represented and your voice heard.

Stay tuned for our Legislative Awareness Campaign launching soon that will keep you in the know about significant legislative updates and ways that you can be involved.

Commercialize Seattle is currently accepting submissions and content! Be a part of this business development campaign to drive production and advertising to the region, and get featured in our Latest Work section of the Commercialize Seattle website that showcases some of the very best commercial work coming out of Seattle and Washington State.

When we're out selling the region as one of the best places in the world to make commercials, we point people to the Latest Work section on the website to show them what we can do here! The campaign highlights locally made commercials and is a hub where brands and agencies look to find great talent. Local production companies and ad agencies should register and learn more.

We frequently showcase new work, so get registered and submit. Then we can show you off to the world - remember, advertising is the best thing any of us can do!

If you were unable to attend one of our Town Hall Meetings, here's a recap including overview of the work of the Advocacy Committee and a preview of the 2015 Legislative Session, as well as a Call to Action for the statewide film industry.

Welcome to Winthrop, a Washington town with western flair! Enjoy hiking, skiing, and skating outside while basking in the absence of traffic, chain stores, and combustion. It's the perfect place to enjoy snow, nature, and each other.

Our most recent Latest Work is from Nyhus Communications, an agency based in Seattle focused on collaboration and lasting change. Watch their spot on Alaska Airlines' role in the Northwest.
