New Field Announcement
Dear Penn Legacy and Hempfield Soccer Club Families,

New Field Announcement:

The Board of Penn Legacy/Hempfield Soccer Club is happy to announce a new premier grass field complex to be available for use starting this fall at the WJTL Radio Station property located at 1875 Junction Road in East Hempfield Township, to be known as Junction Center Fields. The Club and WJTL Radio Station owner Creative Ministries, Inc have entered into a long term lease arrangement to lease nearly 14 acres of open land for new grass soccer fields to be installed on the property.  Bob Hummer, of Hummer Sports Turf, will be preparing the site and planting high quality turf grass over the next few days in hopes that the site will be able to be played on come the fall playing season.

The site will provide the Club with much needed field space and will offer more then 300 parking spaces once a new parking lot expansion project is completed by WJTL later this year.  WJTL/Creative Ministries, Inc. President, Tim Landis, noted, "We are excited to partner with another non-profit organization who is well known in the community and we are happy to be able to provide them with the space they need for additional fields, so that they can continue to support their programs and offer their kids the best soccer experience possible".

This partnership offers the Club much needed field space immediately and is a site that was a perfect match for soccer use as parking will be offered on site and available land that is ready to be played on without making any improvements.  Junction Center Fields will replace the Graystone Farm project, the Club had previously announced the potential acquisition of.  It was recently determined by the Club's professional consultants, that the Graystone Farm property offered significant challenges in developing the site into soccer fields, as Storm Water Management requirements impacted the number of fields the site could offer as well as the size of those fields, among other challenging aspects of the site that were determined through the due diligence phases of the project.

The Board has been focused on finding new field locations since losing the East Petersburg Elementary School site.  This new site will go a long way in replacing the field space that was lost while at the same time offering a premier grass playing surface for the foreseeable future.  The Club is excited to begin playing on these new fields as soon as possible and will hope for a spring weather season that is conducive for the grass to be grown in and ready to be played in the Fall of 2013.  While this partnership is a tremendous opportunity for the Club to meet the field needs our kids deserve, the Board will continue to search for additional opportunities that can offer more field space for the future growth of the Club.
