I try to forget it, but reality keeps reminding me how demanding and challenging leadership is.  Whether leading a church, an organization, or a ministry, a leader is constantly giving and investing him or herself in others and in a vision.  That means leaders are in a constant state of emotional, physical and spiritual drain.  If we are not paying attention, our lives can be focused on the future, performance, and execution to the extent that we forget about our very souls and what is happening inside of us.  If we fail to cultivate the soul of our leadership - the very presence of God in us - then we run the risk of totally missing what God wants to do in us and through us.  And we become a casualty of ministry.
