Beach Party
To The Beach !!
Dear Readers,

In this the bottom end, low tide, dead end, of winter, it behooves some of us, at least, to seek out alternative forms of light. In winter there are people who, literally (my daughter's favorite adverb), do not see the light of day. With only 9.5 hours of daylight allotted now, we must scamper to find a sun. And, if you agree that we are a photophilic entity, then you must admit that right now we are really up against it for another few months. But what sun do we seek, given that the round one is currently on the down low? You know? Can you guess where I am heading with this?

It is no coincidence that pub is a three-letter word that almost rhymes with sun.

Pub; Sun. Pub; Sun. Pub; Sun. See what I mean? It is uncanny!

Need a tan? Wanna catch some rays? Which way to the pub?

Beer Dinner - Certified Angus Beef

Certified Angus Beef Beer Dinner

Thursday, Feb. 7, 6 PM

5 Ale House Beers, 5 Gourmet Courses, 50 People, $50

Reservations 978 669 0122

The Certified Angus Beef (CAB) beer dinner competes with our Wild Game beer dinner for 'most popular'. Last time we tacked on 10 more seats to accommodate the discerning beef eaters. A special feature of this particular dinner is that we bring in guest chefs employed by our food supplier, Sysco. Hence, you get a little bit different kind of treat as Sysco pulls out all the stops and attempts to 'school' the Ale House crowd. Can we be schooled? Put me in the front, and call me teacher's pet.

NEW ORLEANS

Party Starts ½ Hour Before Kickoff

Popcorn, Pub Chips and Happy Hour !!

We'd love to put the Pats logo up there, but mustn't count our chickens.  The Pats just have to get by the Ravens and then it's off to New Orleans. We will have Happy Hour going (1/2 price G-Vegas Nachos, $.25 Wings, 3 free toppings any pizza) in the pub for the whole game and the Ale House popcorn machine will be running. Free popcorn for everyone, pub chips too!

Even if the Pats aren't playing, we will still do all of this, 'cause it's a party!
New Sound System In The Pub

Yamaha 24-channel mixer

We have spent a little money and bought a brand new sound system for our pub. We have a 24-channel Yamaha mixer, equalizers, crossovers, amplifiers and two new base bins hanging from the ceiling. Add to that a bevy of specialty microphones, cords and stands. We now have much, much better control over sound, which means no more muffled tones, screeching guitars and lost voices. The effect is evenly distributed and beautiful. This means we now employ a sound man as well, whose only job is to control the sound and make your experience only better, whether you are in the pub or supping in our main dining room.

The Ale House is not only dedicated to great beer and food, but also to ambience and fantastic local music. Please give us your feedback!  Email me at oktoberfest@gardnerale.com

Ah Ciao!

If you've never been to the Beach Party, you might want to give it a try. It takes all ages to pull it off and it's just nice to be able to wear a T-shirt and shorts in 80-85 degrees. It takes the chill out of your bones.

If you've never been to a Beer Dinner, this is the one to try. There's nothing not to like.

If you've never been to the Ale House, then you are applauded for reading its newsletter, but come on down! We're right here! Like, always. And you can read the newsletter again.

ciao

Thanks for being there!

Oktoberfest Lager
This Friday, January 18, 2013;
We found a keg!
This traditional, amber German Lager is cold-aged for more than six weeks in order to produce a beer of unusual drinkability: it goes down smooth and teases the palate with a variety of subtle malt flavors.  Gardner's Oktoberfest is incredibly flavorful, malty and smooth.  (5.6% ABV)

Our Featured Wine

Bear Flag Wine Bear Flag

White Blend

(Modesto, CA)

Blend of Muscat, Symphony, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and French Columbard.

Flavors and aromas of peach, apricot, baked apple and pear with a hint of tropical fruit.

Enjoy by the bottle $23 or by the glass $6.50  Ask for a sample!

How can you resist that? And if you don't finish the bottle, you get to take it home, just like with all our bottles of wine. We have special bags, which are state approved, for transporting opened bottles of wine. Cool.

The Deck?
Deck From Above
The foundation is in, yay!  Still trying to get the rest of it approved.  We need like 95 more toilets for the extra capacity.
