New Year's Eve
Gift Card
Dear Readers,

Welcome to a brief update which will bring you through to Christmas and to the end of this year concerning all things Ale House.

Pay no attention to the image above, it is not intended to influence liminally or subliminally, your desires to purchase a gift card online (www.gardnerale.com) or in the pub, or sitting at table.  It is only meant as a place holder for a picture of me which isn't necessarily welcome by the curious or even the brave.  It's just there and will be featured later in this rag.

Now, as December heads toward Christmas, you may want to shop or drink or maybe party on New Year's Eve, and, certainly, in those categories, we excel.  I bring to you, in this brief e-message, the long and the short of it.

Yes, New Year's revelers, I said buffets, plural! We have three different buffets for our New Year's Eve Celebration and you can choose any of the three time slots or none of them, and still hang here. You can ring in the New Year, or just have some fun and go home early. You can do anything you want. And you will have a difficult time choosing, because, indeed, we have it all. Never before has such an ambitious undertaking been undertaken - at least not here. Have a look-see:

Ah Ciao!
For those of you who could not make Saturday's John Lennon Night on Dec. 8, let me tell you, it was a show.  I could not leave until the last song.  And then I insisted on two more.  The Plastic Juno Band, which I have re-dubbed the "Once a Year Plastic Juno Band" was on their game as they dusted off those guitars, drums, keys, horns and clothes to play one more annual stand at the Ale House.

Then the year presses on and we forget, until that remarkable Beatles Phoenix arises again and takes no prisoners in the pub.  What a remarkable night it continues to be.

Thanks to all who participated or wish they could!  See you there next year.

And for my final note:  There is nothing quite like the end-of-the year contemplation that accompanies December waning days.  It is truly the reason I don't resolve anything for the next year.  My contemplation can now be somewhat simple as I don't look back on broken intention(s).  However, I continue to look back anyway and try to see what it was.  For me, it was dizzy.

I don't think in my life, I have ever had my attention re-directed as much as I had this year.  So, what of it?  Not sure.  Things are getting done, so I maybe it's OK, but am I getting done?

Thanks for being there and wading through...

ciao

Our Featured Wine

Red wineOpula

Red Blend

2010

(Tuscany, Italy)

Straight off of our wine list & available every day, we are featuring this higher-end

Italian Red in order to bring attention to what we think is a very fine wine in our lineup.

Described as a fruit-forward, full bodied blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Syrah and Merlot grapes.

Enjoy by the bottle $25 or by the glass $7.  Ask for a sample!

How can you resist that? And if you don't finish the bottle, you get to take it home, just like with all our bottles of wine. We have special bags, which are state approved, for transporting opened bottles of wine. Cool.
