Prep Day for All State Auditions

Open to any string player who has participated in their Senior Regional Orchestra event and is interested in getting extra help to improve their skills at the All-State Prep Day. $25 for students of VASTA members, $30 for students of NON-VASTA members. Registration is at the door. [Details]

AYP Welcomes Winds CoachAs Co-Principal Oboe of "The President's Own" United States Marine Band, Trevor Mowry is the youngest salaried principal oboist in the country. His musical studies commenced at age five with piano lessons, and he began studying the oboe at age nine. In high school Trevor spent three years with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and their Encore Chamber  Orchestra, which included regular performances at Chicago Symphony's Orchestra Hall and a 2007 tour of Eastern Europe. In 2011 he completed his Bachelor of Music degree at the Eastman School of Music, graduating with a Performer's Certificate for outstanding performing ability. He pursued graduate studies at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music until his appointment to "The President's Own" in 2012 at age twenty-two. Trevor has appeared as a guest artist with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra and New World Symphony, and as guest principal with Houston Grand Opera. His summer music program participation includes the National Repertory Orchestra, the Banff Centre, Chautauqua Institution, and Interlochen Arts Center. In his native Illinois, he was principal oboist of the Wheaton Municipal Band from 2008-2011. Trevor appeared as a soloist with the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra in 2010, with the Wheaton Municipal Band in 2008, and with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra in 2006. His primary teachers are Richard Killmer, Robert Atherholt, and Deb Stevenson. Trevor feels privileged to share his passion for music with the woodwind section of the American Youth Philharmonic.

AYPO updated the Member login section of the website. The original passwords DO NOT work; in order to gain access, you will need to follow these steps to request a new password:
1. Go to www.aypo.org/members/forgot.php and enter your username given to you at the beginning of the season or the musician's email address.
2. You will receive an email (at the address of the musician) indicating the new password. Go back to the login page and enter that new password.
3. Once logged in, there is a new page for you to create your own password (optional): www.aypo.org/members/reset.php

Absence Hotline
If you are reporting an absence, please use the Absence Hotline (703-642-5480) and not the main office number. Absence reports that are emailed ( manager@aypo.org) will be noted until 4:00 p.m. the day of a rehearsal, at which time staff members must travel to the rehearsal sites. Absences emailed after 4:00 p.m. will be received the next business day. Absence Hotline: - Dial 703-642-5480
- Follow prompt to choose orchestra
- Leave a voicemail with the first and last name of the musician (spell last name), instrument, and reason for absence.
