AYP Welcomes Winds Coach

Trevor Mowry joins the team as Winds Coach of the American Youth Philharmonic beginning on January 28. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree at the Eastman School of Music, graduating with a Performer's Certificate in recognition of his excellence in performance. He pursued graduate studies at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music until his appointment to "The President's Own" United States Marine Band in 2012, where he currently serves as Co-Principal Oboe. Trevor has appeared as a guest artist with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra and Houston Grand Opera. He has participated in summer music programs with the National Repertory Orchestra, the Banff Centre, Chautauqua Institution, Madeleine Island, Interlochen Arts Center, and Northwestern University [read more].

Volunteers Needed for Concert! 

Volunteers are needed for the upcoming "Americana" concert this Sunday, January 27. Volunteers can be parents from any of the four orchestras as well as siblings/friends (at least 14 years old). It is best to avoid having Philharmonic parents volunteer for certain positions since their children will be performing. Here are some details about the volunteer duties:

  • Ticket Sales before and during concert (2:00-3:30 p.m.)
  • Ticket Collection at auditorium entrances before and during concert (2:00-3:30 p.m.)

AYPO updated the Member login section of the website. The original passwords DO NOT work; in order to gain access, you will need to follow these steps to request a new password: 

 

1. Go to www.aypo.org/members/forgot.php and enter your username given to you at the beginning of the season or the musician's email address.

 

2. You will receive an email (at the address of the musician) indicating the new password. Go back to the login page and enter that new password.


3. Once logged in, there is a new page for you to create your own password (optional): www.aypo.org/members/reset.php

Experience the glamour and sophistication of the 1920s and 1930s in this permanent tribute to the brothers who helped provide a musical background to the period. The exhibition contains a wealth of materials that provide insight into their careers and personalities, including manuscript and printed music, lyric sheets and librettos, personal and business correspondence, photographs, paintings, and drawings, all from the Gershwin Collection in the Music Division of the Library of Congress, the world's preeminent resource for materials about the Gershwins.
