The American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras (AYPO) is proud to announce The Ensemble da Camera of Washington as the Ensemble In-Residence for the AYPO Chamber Ensemble Program. The Ensemble consists of clarinetist Claire Eichhorn, pianist Anna Balakerskaia, and violinist/violist Ricardo Cyncynates, and is critically acclaimed nationwide as a "first-rate performance...impressive" (Washington Post). The Ensemble will be an exciting new addition to AYPO's educational opportunities, presenting two concerts, four master classes, and a student recital in the spring.

"The purpose of this new program is to give the training, normally found only in conservatories and universities, to highly committed and enthusiastic young musicians," said Claire Eichhorn, Music Director of The Ensemble. "The most successful orchestras are composed of musicians who are exceptional chamber players. A great orchestra is a great chamber group. We feel that this program will not only make you a better musician who is able to listen and play at a professional level, but also give you the training to be an exceptional orchestral player."

The master class series begins December 16, 1:00 p.m., at the Harris Theatre of George Mason University. Watch AYPO chamber musicians perform challenging repertoire and receive educational guidance from The Ensemble. Master classes are free, open to the public, and feature AYPO musicians performing challenging repertoire followed by educational guidance from The Ensemble.

ABOUT THE ENSEMBLE: Founded in 1990, the Ensemble da Camera of Washington is among the country's finest ensembles in its configuration. These three internationally acclaimed musicians come from Russia, Germany and Brazil and together they have performed throughout the United States to outstanding reviews. Admired for their remarkable homogeneity, style and virtuosity, their programs include works covering four centuries of music from solo works to duos and trios. The Ensemble also performs with guest artists, which further expands their repertoire. Their recordings for the Vernissage Records label were received with unanimous praise from radio and print critics among them, WETA, Washington Post, Fanfare Magazine, The Clarinet Magazine, Classical Pulse, High Performance Magazine and The American Record Guide. The Ensemble also has commissioned new works for its combination and they have premiered trios by the American composers Richard Faith and Michael Hersch and gave the Washington premiere of the Trio "Leaves From an Autumn Album" by Russian composer R. Riabov. In 2012 they will present the American premiere of Dina Smorganskaia's "Triptich".

ABOUT THE AYPO CHAMBER ENSEMBLE PROGRAM: The Chamber Ensemble Program is open to all musicians (including piano) in the American Youth Philharmonic and the American Youth Symphonic Orchestra. The program gives musicians the opportunity to enhance their musical development by giving them the chance to study and perform chamber ensemble music under the guidance of professional instructors. Ensembles are formed based on position in the orchestra, instrumentation, and repertoire. The program includes music, rehearsal space, ensemble coaching sessions, participation in four master classes, admission to the two concerts, performance at the spring recital, and performance opportunities in the community.
