REALTORŪ SAFETY AWARENESS ALERT

BCAR today received word from a member about a RealtorŪ safety incident that recently occurred.  A BCAR member received a call from a homeowner from Fairbridge Road in Fairless Hills, stating that he wanted to list his home.   The member went to the home to meet the owner.  Upon entry into the home the owner locked the door behind the agent and approached her.  The home had a terrible smell and the owner was very unclean.  The agent asked him to move away but he would not.  She stated that she did not desire to list his home and he became angry and started to approach her.  She managed to get to the front door, unlock it and get away.

We are sending this alert to inform our members of this situation.  In light of recent RealtorŪ attacks and deaths nationwide, we all need to be more safety conscious.

Rule #1 - DON'T WORK ALONE!

Bring someone with you, whether for a buyer or a seller.

Rule #2 - KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Ask the potential client to come to your office or another safe place to give you their identification information and make sure someone in your office knows where you are going and at what time.

Remember - NO COMMISSION IS WORTH YOUR LIFE!
