Troubling Trends Emerge in the Municipal Point-of-Sale Inspection Process

Lenders that refuse to provide mortgage funding when a temporary use and occupancy (U & O) permit has been issued by a municipality is one of the troubling new challenges facing real estate consumers in southeastern Pennsylvania. A recent PAR Just Listed article describes this growing problem, and the headaches it can create for buyers and sellers. The Suburban REALTORS® Alliance is also interested in hearing stories about municipalities that refuse to allow buyers to occupy a property even after they've been issued a temporary U & O. "Unless a municipality is claiming that a home is unfit for habitation they should allow the buyer to occupy it and make the necessary repairs within 18 months," according to Jamie Ridge, president/ceo of the Suburban REALTORS® Alliance. The Alliance would like to hear from brokers and members when local municipalities refuse to allow occupancy after issuing a temporary certificate. Board of Director Nominations
Nominations are now being accepted for three (3) Director positions on the BCAR Board for a three-year term beginning January, 2015.

Nominations must be submitted on a 2015 BCAR Nomination form, which can be found here.  The form outlines the qualifications necessary for nomination as a Director, along with the responsibilities of a Director.  Both pages of the form must be completed and the signed form must be returned to the BCAR office by email, mail, personal delivery or FAX by September 1, 2014.
 

Voting will occur from September 15 through October 3.  On October 8, during the annual BCAR REALTOR® Expo, a meeting of the General Membership will be held and the results of the election will be announced.

Printed or Digital Copy?
Members now have a choice how they receive REALTOR® Magazine - print or digital.  Members can log into their account on www.REALTOR.org, click on My Account.  Under Manage Your Subscriptions, click on REALTOR® Magazine where they will see an option to opt out of print and only receive the digital edition. All members are currently set as a default to print unless they opt out.
