ROC Fills 105 Backpacks!
Many thanks to our members who donated backpacks and school supplies in our recent drive.  The Reach Out Committee "ROC" was able to fill 105 backpacks for the children in the BC Housing Group Homeless Shelters.  The following ROC members filled the backpacks (L to R): Susan Grau, Ellen Cassidy, Bob Ramagli, Kelly Wenhold, Maryellen O'Brien, Liz Phillips and Joanne Schaeffer.

What REALTORS® need to know about auto insurance and why

By James L. Goldsmith, Esq.

I represent REALTORS® in many situations in which there is a recognized need for a lawyer.  Most of those situations involve REALTOR® clients, problem properties, forms or the Real Estate Commission.  But with increasing frequency, I am fielding calls from REALTORS® who were injured in car accidents.  Some of these accidents happen while the REALTOR® is working.  My ability to help a REALTOR® recover lost income and lost economic opportunity (a particular problem for REALTORS® who are not paid an hourly rate or salary), sometimes runs into a brick wall.

A Director's Perspective

This is the third in a series of interviews with members of the Bucks County Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors.  This interview is with BCAR Vice-President Maryellen O'Brien.

How long have you served as a Director of the Bucks County Association of REALTORS® (BCAR)?

I have been a BCAR Director for three years

What prompted you to seek election?

I have been a volunteer at BCAR since I started in the business in 1988. I always enjoyed the ability to meet and network with REALTORS® in our area. When the opportunity for a Director position became available, I decided to seek election because I wanted to help other REALTORS® discover the benefits of being a member of BCAR and to bring the opinions of those REALTORS® back to leadership at BCAR. Since I became a Director, our board has been able to offer Zip Forms and Docusign as a member benefit. With the opening of the new school, this association is truly trying to increase member benefits and I think that is something the membership really appreciates and uses regularly.

Smoke Detectors - Part 1

by Ed Pfeiffer, Fire Marshal of Warwick Township

Whenever firefighters are dispatched to a residential fire, our system has failed. Fire codes, fire officials, fire prevention efforts and individual homeowners have failed. Although all fires are not preventable, traditional thinking has been directed at preventing them from starting. This is a good plan and has prevented many fires from beginning. However, history has shown that this isn't good enough. Fires happen in all kinds of homes, big and small, to the rich and the poor. Reasons include careless cooking, recalled appliances, foreign-made electrical products, careless smoking, candles, children playing with matches, old wiring and a million others.  Click here to read more
