Prying Eyes
Reviewing an inspection report prepared for, and paid by, another.
By James L. Goldsmith, Esquire
No, I don't think it is a sin or even a violation of law for one buyer to see an inspection report prepared for another. Inspection reports, usually paid for by the buyer, are conducted for transactions and sometimes what occurs in one transaction is relevant to another. Inspectors do not want subsequent buyers to use the reports they prepared and will often claim that it is illegal for that other buyer to see or use it. But I have not heard of one inspector seeking to enforce this claim and, frankly, I don't think it holds much water. The reason, of course, for making such a claim is that inspectors want to sell their services to that other buyer, and there is nothing wrong with trying to make a living!...click here to read more

"ALL POLITICS ARE LOCAL"
RPAC success in Bucks County
BCAR members give annually to the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC), but many don't realize that RPAC has made a major impact for REALTORS® right here in Bucks County.
Success in electing pro-REALTOR® candidates
We've had great local success in helping to elect members of Congress, State Senators and Representatives, and even local municipal officials through RPAC. Most recently in Bristol Township, we have successfully supported five of the seven current council members, including two fellow REALTORS®. During their little more than one year on council, those new members have completely re-written the ordinances that had made it so difficult to sell real estate in the township.
On top of this success, RPAC resources have made the following possible in Bucks County:
+Fighting against unreasonable use and occupancy and rental ordinances that make real estate transactions more difficult;
+Advocating for reasonable sign ordinances that don't harshly restrict the use of temporary real estate signs;
+Speaking out against the unfair practice of school districts conducting a "spot-reassessment" of single-family properties immediately after a home sale.
+Helping REALTORS® build relationships with elected officials that give us a seat at the table when important public policy issues are being decided.
It's a complicated world out there, but RPAC always has your back. It's the best insurance you can buy to protect against the passage of new ordinances, rules and regulations that can make life very difficult for REALTORS® and the consumers we serve.
