We have just started our eight-week radio campaign. After only a few days, we are already on the AMA charts. I got a smile out of the funny coincidence of being just below Neil Young on the charts this week-as most of you know, I covered his song "Lotta Love" on the album. Listener requests can play a majorly influential role in the process of getting more plays and moving up the charts.
Is the end goal to chart at #1? I wouldn't hate that, but the goal is definitely to get in as many ears as possible! If you have time during your busy days to call in and request songs from Freight Train Love, we will be eternally grateful. To give you an idea of how much it matters, I want to tell you that my second home of Columbia, MO, where I spent many years and where my music is greatly supported, is where KOPN 89.5 FM is located. On the reports we receive, KOPN is listed as one of the stations on which Freight Train Love is in heavy rotation, and they are definitely one of the stations that helped put me on the AMA charts. Heavy rotation is literally only about 5-10 spins a week! We aren't talking about Pop radio where you might hear the same song 4 times a day. So, the radio station near you can become a heavy rotation station for us and help us in the Americana Music charting, and it can make a real difference in the success of the album.
