Hello Friends, These children of South Sudan have a reason to smile now that they have been given hope as a result of your many contributions, your love, and your faithfulness to the call of Christ to never forget the widow and the orphan. GRACE Home was opened in September 2013 to house children from the villages where the United Methodist Church exists. Although most of the children are from the UMC some are children from the communities. In February 2015 we opened Green Land Home for Children in Kenyi, a community about 30 miles from Yei. These children had been taken in by a person in the church but they were living in deplorable conditions. When it was brought to the attention of some United Methodists visiting here, the Memphis Conference and Abingdon District got busy raising money to build a home for them. That dream became a reality when the children moved into the homes in February. There is still work to be done, such as building a permanent kitchen and dining room, but we have witnessed a major transformation of these children in just a short time. Thanks to Heather and Wes Hayes of Christ UMC, Knoxville, the children of GRACE and Green Land have their own libraries! They love being read to but we now have the honor of teaching them how to use the library and getting them accustomed to reading on their own. The children of Green Land received new school uniforms this year. Thanks so much to Abingdon District. We invite you to be a part of the GRACE and Green Land family. Donations can be made through the South Sudan Shalom Ministry, Advance Number 3020787.True devotion, the kind that is pure and faultless before God the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their difficulties and to keep the world from contaminating us.
