THREADS OF BLESSING: Here and Abroad
The THREADS OF BLESSING ministry is a multi-faceted outreach with international branches in Uganda, Honduras, SE Mexico, and Haiti. Women learn to make beautiful picture tapestries, participate in spiritually-enriching worship and Bible studies, as well as public health seminars. The tapestries are brought back to the United States where the local Threads of Blessing ladies do finish work by framing, applying to handbags or shirts or other items, and then the products are sold. All proceeds of the sales are returned to the women working in partner locations. These funds have transformed families and local economies as women help their local churches, start micro enterprises, pay school fees, obtain medical help, construct houses, and enjoy enriched lives.
Their counterparts in San Antonio accept commissions for altar hangings, banners, and other fine stitchery arts, which fund materials and scholarships for international branches. The above photo shows some of the Threads ladies working on a banner for the Bexar County Women's Prison.

I AM A GO-ER: Nancy Springer (St. Alban's, Harlingen)
I am a go-er! Each time I go, I go with the intention of ministering to those our team is going to serve and yes, we do that in so many ways. But one of the things that keeps me going back is the way that the people we go to serve minister to us. My faith is strengthened by theirs. My heart grows because of who they are. I become more grateful and generous because of their gratitude and generosity. Going helps me see in very concrete ways that God is at work at all times and in all places and through all people. I go to help with His Kingdom work and realize over and over again that His work goes far beyond my intentions.

I AM A GIVER: Betty Anne Cody (St. Mark's, San Antonio)
When I was a pre-schooler, my mother and I took my grandmother to our church for the meetings of the Women's Missionary Union. This precious grandmother taught me that God is Love. She was present at the organization of this group of women who had the world at heart. So my genes are colored by my history.
As a teen, I felt God wanted me to serve as a missionary doctor, and I said yes to that call. As the years rolled by, I stayed the course of those early experiences, and I have not forgotten them although my life unfolded in variations of those calls. Now, I keep up with the details of the places where I give my small contributions, being as sure as I can that the work I encourage is done with the heart of those who go and show God's love in various ways.
"God is love." She taught me by her loving ways and words, and I still want that love told to those who have not heard this good news. I tell in my own ways this good news where I live, and I give to missions because I care deeply about those whose lives will be richer when they take in that love.

I AM A PRAY-ER: Suzette Harris (St. Luke's, San Antonio)
I feel called to pray for our DWTX missioners every day. I pray for their safety, their ability to make Jesus known to their community and above all, that their actions will shout out God's love for those they minister to. Of course, I pray fervently for my favorite missioner, Cookie Harris, and often smile when I think of the scripture she chose to use when she began her ministry. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matt: 28:19

DID YOU KNOW...
There are THREE components to world mission:
GOING, GIVING, PRAYING.
You know about GOING AND GIVING, but did you know that Virtual Mission is a group of PRAY-ERS who participate in team trips by attending team meetings, reading the team devotional books, staying connected with the team as they go, and PRAYING daily for the team? If you'd like to be part of Virtual Mission, contact Libby Templeton for more information ( [email protected]).
