Greetings!
2015 is shaping up to be a very busy year for the Novato Watershed Program. We have a lot of work to do, and we encourage everyone to get informed and provide feedback. We are planning an exciting community meeting this Spring which will feature a presentation by the San Francisco Estuary Institute on the historical ecology of the Novato Creek baylands.

Project Alternatives Process
|
| Warner Creek at Novato Creek 12/11/2014 |
In 2014, we completed the hydraulic existing conditions model. An executive summary and the full report is available in the Novato Watershed library.
Our focus in 2015 shifts to selecting, modeling, and analyzing project alternatives, with the goals of reducing flooding, increasing resiliency to sea level rise, and habitat restoration.
We are working with our partners and our technical working group to develop and organize the alternative project scenarios. We anticipate the following schedule of public review to gain feedback from the public throughout the process:
- Community Meeting #1 - Historic Ecology of the Novato Creek Baylands and Introduction to the Novato Watershed Program - Spring 2015
- Public review of draft alternative plan for modeling - Spring 2015
- Draft Alternatives Assessment Report - Late Fall 2015
- Community Meeting #2 - Present and discuss draft Alternatives Report- Winter 2015-16
- Community Meeting #3 - Present final results, discuss funding strategies and next steps - Spring 2016
In addition, we will provide program status updates and seek comments at public Flood Control Zone No. 1 meetings tentatively scheduled for May 7th and in July, September, and November.
