Our Mission
Protect and Advocate for Parents' Rights to Guide the Education of Their Children.

Spring Newsletter, 2016

Spring is the time for new life and possibilities.  Whether you find yourself attending your children's soccer games, discovering flowers with them alongside a mountain trail, or sending them off to outdoor school, you want  your child to be happy and safe.  You most definitely do not want them to be bullied or put in harms way.

And you shouldn't be bullied either. Especially when it comes to the safety and well-being of your children. Your children desperately need you to understand and embrace your role as their protector and advocate. Do not be quick to hand this amazing privilege and responsibility over to another.

Pushing Back on Bullies

As parents we may sometimes feel overwhelmed by the bullies in Oregon who have been given unprecedented access to our children while at school.  Parents may feel steamrolled by the Oregon Legislature who is passing laws that are removing the legal rights of parents to direct the health care of their children at the behest of outside organizations.  For example, total strangers have been given access to the health care of our children at school-based health clinics.

Who are the bullies in Oregon who believe they have the right to invade our families?  They include the Oregon Department of Education, Oregon Health Authority, elected officials, health institutions, County Health Clinics, Planned Parenthood and some non-profits who believe they know what is best for our children.  We wouldn't leave our doors and windows open for strangers to come into our homes and harm us, why would we allow total strangers access to our children's bodies in school?

Be encouraged and take heart, the tide is changing.  The good news is that organizations like Parents' Rights in Education are rapidly forming across the nation and around the world to end the violation of our children.

Below is a documentary by Family Watch International which will give you hope.  As parents and guardians, we must stand up and speak out against the real bullies who have access to our most precious gifts...our children...and who are invading our private family life.

Do You Know the New Pronouns Ze, Hir or Eirself?

Are pronouns now under attack in the public schools because they make some students feel bad.  To quote the Merrium-Webster Dictionary, the full definition of a pronoun is "any of a small set of words in a language that are used as substitutes for nouns and noun phrases and whose referents are named or understood in the context."  In other words, when we use words such as he, I, she, you, it, we or they, in place of a person, we are using pronouns.  We scratch our heads and wonder how such words could make students "feel bad"?  After all, they are part of not only our English language, but the languages of all peoples.

G-Safe (Gay, Straight Alliance for Safe Schools) and GLSEN are clubs in public schools much like the FFA or Chess Club.  G-Safe has proposed a new set of pronouns for those students who feel excluded because they identify with a gender that is different from their birth gender. According to G-Safe, a person's gender can be a very personal and a private matter. Purportedly, these students are made to feel bad about their gender, because they no longer identify as a boy or girl, male or female but rather feel fluid (or confused) in their gender.

G-Safe has proposed replacing all gender pronouns (she, he, her, him) with new gender neutral or gender inclusive pronouns with "ze, eirself or hir".  In the updated language of G-Safe, a "person could identify as a female and also prefer he/him/his".  Further, "more and more people are using "they", "them", and "their(s)" as singular, gender inclusive pronouns even, though they have been traditionally used as plural pronouns".

Oregon schools score near the bottom in academic achievement.  Too often students are being lead to be offended and confused by their own bodies.  Wouldn't it be better for Oregon educators to concentrate on teaching standard English language usage rather than confusing students with trendy and often conflicting terminology.  Who knows, SAT scores might actually improve!

UPDATE:  State of Oregon Paying for Sex
Change for Minors

In July 2015, we learned that the state of Oregon through the Health Evidence Review Commission (HERC), composed of members appointed by then Governor Kitzhaber, had authorized sex change surgery for minors to be paid for by taxpayers, parental knowledge or consent not required.

Judicial Watch has accessed documents from the Oregon Health Authority and in less than 2 months the following had occurred:
  • 56 minors have received assessment/therapy for 'gender dysphoria'
  • 7 of the children were between 0 and 9 years old
  • 22 of the children were between 10 and 14 years old
  • 27 of the children were between 15 and 17 years old
  • 17 of the minors received puberty blockers
We highly recommend you read the August 2015 Judicial Watch article:

The good news is that Judicial Watch will continue to monitor this program.
School-Based Health Clinics: Who is Touching Your Child's Body?

Do you know what kinds of health care or health care advice your child is accessing from the school-based health clinic (SBHC) in your school?

Take the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Clinics, located at Century High School, Forest Grove, Tigard, Tualatin, Beaverton and Willamina high schools for example. The clinics provide "body and mind" health care.  For the body they provide physical exams, sports physicals, immunizations, urgent care, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness, specialist referrals and dental screening.  For the mind they provide mental health therapy, substance abuse screenings, individualized education plan (IEP) support and LGBTQ+safe zones.

Remember...in 2015 the legislature passed House Bill 2758 which recognizes your child's right to privacy as it relates to "their" health care.  The bill eliminated your right as a parent to know what kinds of health care your child is accessing while attending public school if your child is 15 years of age or older.   The law now requires your insurance carrier to send any and all communications directly to the member receiving the service and not the policy holder.

Also, in the state of Oregon, your child can access contraceptive care at any age without your consent or knowledge.  So, a SBHC  might dispense birth control pills or insert an IUD to your 12-year-old daughter without your knowledge or consent.

Ask your school board, superintendent or administrator for a complete and detailed list of all services, products and referrals that your SBHC is offering.

Binding or Child Abuse?

When we think of binding, we think of tying objects together to secure them (as with a rope so the objects will remain tight and not move).  Binding in the transgender world is quite another thing. We see confused young girls believing they are boys, wearing objects around their chest to constrict their breasts.

Organizations such as TransActive Gender Center (located in Portland and an arm of Basic Rights Oregon) and Trans Youth Equality Foundation  are two of many organizations that are providing binders to these young girls.   TransActive will send minor girls, under the age of 18, binders once they fill out the online application.  It is unclear whether the child receives the binder free of change.  Because of their limited supply, TransActive asks that drag kings and queens, please do not apply for these binders.  Trans Youth Equality Foundation (TYEF) sells new binders costing between $30 and $90, along with how to care for your binder.

It should be noted that TransActive encourages the use of puberty blockers which can seriously harm a minor's brain, bone and reproductive development. Also, Planned Parenthood is "thrilled to announce" that they offer transgender hormones (feminizing and masculinizing medications) that could be given to your minor child.  Ironically, in Ontario, Canada owners of a sex shop were fined for selling a dangerous chest binder to a teenage girl.

Oregon Schools Amass Data From Students About Parents' Behavior & Child's Thoughts and Beliefs

The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) strongly recommend School Boards give their approval of what some parents would deem as an intrusive survey given to their children while at school.  All the data is collected between February 1 through April 8, 2016, in what is called the Student Wellness Survey (SWS).

Children as young as 11 years-old are asked:  "How do you identify?  Female, Male, Transgender, Other".  What does the ODE and OHA mean by Other?  Further, how is a 6th grader being educated on 'Other' or 'Transgender' in the classroom?

Children will be asked specific questions about their parents:  "During the past 30 days, how many times did you ride in a vehicle driven by a parent or other adult who had been drinking alcohol?" They also want to know if the parents have been separated or divorced, and how many times they have changed homes since kindergarten.  The child is also expected to 'diagnose' and answer if someone in the home is/was depressed.

This survey is given to 6th-8th graders and 11th graders.  Did you know that you can have your child 'opt-out' of any and all surveys?  If you do not opt-out, your child is automatically opted-in.

National News
National Day of Silence

Did you know that April 15 is the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) Day of Silence endorsed by public schools across the nation?  On this day, students are encouraged to remain silent and not speak in class as a show of solidarity against bullying, bias and harassment of LGBTQ students.  Some students may come to school with tape covering their mouths.  Students may also distribute cards stating they are part of the "national youth movement bringing attention to the silence faced by LGBTQ students. Some teachers use this day to explore and bring attention to LGBTQ topics regardless of the subject they teach.

If you are a parent and are unaware of the Day of Silence, call your child's school and ask them if they will be promoting this day and bringing special attention to it through buttons, assemblies, posters or classroom discussion, etc.  If they are, consider joining the movement across the nation and keep your child home on April 15th.

HEYA or One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest  (Doctors "Trained" by "Expert" Teens)

In our April 2015 newsletter,  we told you about the Peer Education Institute and "Teen Sex Specialists", both inventions of Planned Parenthood.  Minors are taught to foolishly believe that after a few hours of training that they are now qualified sexuality educators and are turned loose on our children in the public schools. These teen sex specialist have been singled out and made to feel empowered to render their vast "knowledge of sexuality education, experience and expertise" as more qualified to speak to our children about sex than we are.

As irrational, ludicrous and absurd as that may sound, the Health Equity Youth Advocates (HEYA), is yet another invention of Planned Parenthood.  Planned Parenthood of Columbia Willamette is taking their show on the road to local doctors, nurses and medical students.  "HEYA prepares young people (ages 15-21) to train medical providers, parents and youth to effectively talk about sexual health and reproductive rights." The apparent goal is to "cure awkwardness" while at the doctor's office.

Parents beware of Planned Parenthood.  Besides being the largest provider of comprehensive sex education curriculum in Oregon and enthusiatily providing transgender services and abortions, Planned Parenthood is now sending high school students to "properly" educate your family physician, a person who generally underwent at least 8 to 11 years of higher education and internship.

How Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin Wants to Change Traditional Public Education Model
As a parent many of us would like to have school choice.  Do you find the current climate in the public school disturbing? From comprehensive sex education, to health care decisions for your child being made by strangers or perhaps your child being taught to questions his or her gender?  Are you concerned about private corporations and non-profits, like Planned Parenthood, who have been given access to your child while at school unbeknownst to you?

Traditional public education is being challenged across the country, Oklahoma is just the most recent state engaged in hopes of passing ESA's (Educational Savings Accounts).  ESA's redirect a portion of the funding that is being spent on your child to a private account controlled by the parent.  The parents then have the opportunity to select the school they would like their child to attend from public school to a private school or a charter school.  Oklahoma would be the sixth state to pass education savings. Other states that have passed ESA's are Nevada, Arizona, Florida, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Transgender: A Political Hijacking for Ideological Reasons or Child Abuse?

We have seen a growing movement across the United States by the LGBT community around the use of bathroom and locker room accessibility for gender nonconforming students.  Claims of discrimination have been leveled, school district have been bullied to amend their policies, lawsuits have been filed, and the state of Washington passed legislation allowing men to use women and girls bathrooms.

While we scratch our heads and wonder how our country has seemingly gone off the rails, a sane voice in the transgender community has emerged.  Mr. Walt Heyer is a self described whistleblower who identifies as "The Maverick Transgender".  Mr. Heyer recounts his sad slide into a very dark period of his life as he "analyzes the issues of transgender suicide" in his book Gender, Lies and SUICIDE.

Mr Heyer, to all outward appearances was a very successful man.  He was married with two children and had a very successful career as an engineer for the Apollo space mission systems and later as a key member in the development of the luxury Acura division for Honda.  As he states: a sex change ended it all.  He lost everything...family, friends and career.

"[O]ur constitution long ago rejected any notion that a child is a mere creature of the State and, on the contrary, asserted that parents have the right coupled with the high duty to recognize and prepare [their children] for additional obligations."
