The
Mothering Tree 
May 4 - 12 
on the City Plaza
We didn't drum up enough participation to present a May discount program but The Mothering Tree will still bring life and a bit of poignancy to downtown! 
 
Installation of the Tree will be Saturday, May 4. A dedication will take place at noon, after which the community will be invited to add "leaves" to the trees to honor mothers and maternal lineage.
 

If you would like to hold a basket of the rice-paper leaves for your customers to participate in The Mothering Tree project, email here.

 

The Tree will be staffed by the artists at various times, but the community is invited to add its "leaves" through out the week.

 

After removal of the Tree on May 13,  the leaves will be archived - and there is discussion of a book being published capturing the spirit and words of our community.

This Monday Night, May 6 - Public Meeting at City Council - 7 pm 

 

If You Care About Downtown...

We need you-- Now!

 

On Monday night, May 6, City Council is holding a public meeting on the Resolution of Intention to expand the Downtown Business Improvement District (BID). The purpose is to gather comments from business owners about the proposed assessment.  

 

The Council meeting begins at 7 pm and the BID meeting is #6 on the agenda. 

 

All we ask of you is to attend the meeting and tell council why you support the BID's efforts to work for a strong, welcoming and safe downtown. If you don't, we won't!

  

If you cannot attend the meeting, than please take a moment to email a note in support of the BID expansion. We will forward your comments to council on your behalf. 

 

We hope to greet you on Monday evening beginning at 7 pm in City Council chambers.

Car Show and Rock and Roll Parade!
 
Volunteers Needed!  

  • We expect 200 cool cars revving up to
    roll down 4th Street!
  • We have Great Entertainment: 

Blue Diamond Fillups 
Fenix Rising -  Downtown's "own" Blues Band! 
Danny Click and the Hell Yeahs! 
 

 

  • And making their debut this year is San Rafael's Davidson Middle School Marching Band who will bring a bit a bit more class to our Parade down Fourth Street!  
 
We need volunteers to staff the Beverage Booth or Monitor Cars/barricades. 
Email Your Name and contact information to sign up for a 2 or 3 hour shift beginning at 10:45 am - 5 pm!
