Taconic Ridge Farm
A commitment to the land and your health
Purchased 10-15-13

This 163 acre farm is our first in New York and will be devoted to dairy production incorporating pasture, hay and organic feed grain operations.
Newly named as the Taconic Ridge Farm, our new farm tenants will have room to expand their existing dairy herd and their family.

As a corporate guideline, we do not look for specific farmland to purchase. We  develop relationships with farmers, mostly young and mostly organic, that want to start or grow their sustainable farm business. We only move to purchase if we have a ready, willing and able farm tenant in hand.

Our 12th farm acquisition lies in Washington County, a northeastern section of New York bordering on Vermont and nestled between the Adirondacks and the Green Mountains. This is primarily dairy country and our young tenants, Dan and Erin Richards, will be increasing their Holstein herd and sales of organic milk. The closing that took place this morning, represented over $7 million of funds
now committed under our Young Farmer Land Access Program. Investors that have purchased our company stock span 20 states and support our simple buy and hold strategic plan. This grass roots base enables the company to indefinitely renew leases to the farmers and build a scalable, national market of sustainable investors and farmers.

Investing in new pastures, old farmsteads and young farmers; Iroquois Valley Farms is growing stock for the
next generation of farmers and investors.

Underlying this story are the business opportunities coming from organic dairies. Farm production from our predominantly mid-size family farms is being driven by consumers and ultimately supply contracts from companies like Horizon Organic (in this case), Stonyfield Farms, Organic Valley, Kroger, Fair Oaks Dairy, Whole Foods, etc. From an overall accounting, much of our farm production is now headed to these markets.

Our Young Farmer Land Access Program is securing the healthy soils and the farmers that will feed us for generations to come.
