Honey Oak Kitchen Gets a Dramatic Makeover
When Sandy Springs homeowners decided it was time to update their kitchen, the main objective was to lighten up the space and create contrast between the cabinets matching the hardwood floors. Well they got that and a whole lot more!
Originally deep grain honey Oak, the cabinets were refinished a factory smooth white painted finish. The homeowner wanted to contrast the perimeter cabinets so the Island was refinished to an espresso painted finish. The colors were chosen to compliment the exotic granite countertops.
In addition to the cabinets being refinished, the outdated scalloped sink valance was replaced with a simple straight cut valance.  The homeowner could not believe what a huge difference such a small change would make in their kitchen. Other additions include replacing the exposed hinges with new european hidden hinges, brushed nickel cabinetry hardware and new pullout drawers on the island that better utilize the cabinet space.

AFTER:  Simple straight line sink valance

Backsplashes Goes Linear
Whether you choose glass, stone or porcelain as your backsplash material, the linear shape is extremely HOT this year. Go bold, bright or subtle - whatever compliments your kitchen!

Industrial-Style Lighting in Kitchens
When it comes to kitchen lighting, Industrial style is BIG this year. According to freshome Design and Architecture Magazine "Your kitchen needs to be well-lit in order to keep up with your culinary adventures, but also provide the perfect place for conversation and mingling to happen at get-togethers. Industrial style lighting is very on-trend for 2015. What does this style look like? Well, it varies, but here are some key elements to look for:  black steel, stainless steel, wire caging in place of sconces, clear glass and old-fashioned style lightbulbs, copper or brass, rivets and other industrial hardware.
