Living with Beauty: Works on Paper from a North Carolina Collection

Carefully assembled over a period of more than two decades, the collection includes works on paper by some of the most important American artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries including John Singer Sargent, Robert Henri, Everett Shinn, and Maurice Prendergast. Works of art in the exhibition range from classical figure studies to elegant portraits and from expressive landscapes to quiet marine scenes.

Now open: the Master Bedroom Gallery!

There's now even more art to enjoy! We've opened a brand new exhibition space in the historic house and selected four works of art by Fairfield Porter, Arthur Dove, Lyonel Feininger, and Yasuo Kuniyoshi to mark its grand opening. Which piece is our Preparator Che Machado rolling in? Find out in Curator Allison Slaby's introductory video to the Master Bedroom Gallery on Facebook.

Reynolda at 100: Reynolda Gardens

Drawn largely from the historic photographs and manuscript collections from the Reynolda House Archives, many on display for the first time, this exhibition will show the role the gardens played in Katharine Reynolds's ambitious vision for a New South and how Reynolda Gardens, built to complement and support a working estate, continues its historic mission of education and public access. This exhibition is extended till September 18!

A sharp eye and ear will help you win this trivia challenge!

Q: The final obstacle the Goonies must face to free themselves from the pirate's lair is to play a sequence of notes on an organ (made of bones, not Reynolda's Aeolian variety). Which two notes confuse Andy when she is playing?

The first person to send a correct response to our Chief Storyteller Aaron Canipe at canipeas@reynoldahouse.org will win a pair of tickets to all four Cinema Under the Stars movies this summer. Winner will be notified by email. Best of luck! (Please note that replies to this email cannot be accepted.)
