Grand Illusions: American Art and the First World War: A Talk and Book Signing with David M. Lubin

Cost: $5; free for members of the Museum, students, and Wake Forest University employees

Lubin's newly published book takes readers on a compelling journey through the major historical events leading up to and beyond US involvement in WWI to discover the vast and pervasive influence of the conflict on American visual culture. In this book launch, David M. Lubin will present a highly original examination of the era's fine arts and entertainment to show how they ranged from patriotic idealism to profound disillusionment.

Lullaby: Language, Art, and Song in Concert

Date: Sunday, May 22
Time: 3 p.m.
Cost: Free with Museum admission

Candide Jones wanted to rewrite the lullaby "Rockabye Baby" with loving resonance for all families. In her new, beautifully illustrated picture book, the cradle falls but the story doesn't end there. Join the author and singer-songwriter Laurelyn Dossett for an afternoon of story and song, appropriate for all ages. Find out more about this event.

Summertime Social

Cost: $15; $10 for Members of the Museum and students. Free for RAH passholders.

It's not officially summer until you've toasted with friends in Reynolda's back yard. Bring a blanket and enjoy food trucks, drinks from local vendors, lawn games, excellent music, and an after-hours opportunity to visit Ansel Adams: Eloquent Light. Music is brought to us by Zoe & Cloyd
Summer Adventures
Dates: July 27 - July 8
Time: Partial-day, week-long
Cost: $135 - $195 (Member and sibling discounts available).

Join us for a summer adventure! Art Adventures and Writing Adventures camps provide an opportunity for young artists and writers to explore the Museum's renowned collection of American art, historic house, and grand estate.  Inspired by the art collection, participants in Art Adventures will produce five original works of art; Writing Adventures participants will craft several written compositions of different genres. Summer Adventures are week-long, half-day camps for elementary and middle school students.  Find out more about these adventures.
