Hi from Seattle!

We're gearing up to visit with many of you at Aero Friedrichshafen and Sun 'n Fun over the next few weeks and wanted to let you know about our upcoming product releases.

First, we're coming out with a new optional Remote Magnetometer for SkyView. Many of you have asked for an option that lets you mount SkyView's magnetic sensors away from the ADAHRS for even easier installation, and we're delivering on those requests. That, plus SkyView Software 12.2, arrive at the end of April. Read below for more detail.

Next, we're announcing a new lower price on our D2 Pocket Panel. Compared to the legacy backup instruments in many production aircraft, the D2 is, according to J. Mac McClellan, "about 100 times easier to fly." Now everyone that can't install our panel-mounted avionics in their certificated aircraft can fly behind a safe, affordable backup EFIS.

New Lower Price on D2 Pocket Panel
D2 Pocket Panel

We are excited to announce a new lower pricing for the D2 Pocket Panel with Wi-Fi and G-Meter. Now all pilots can benefit from the D2's life-saving backup attitude indication for a list price of only $1095. The D2 is available now from Dynon dealers.

The D2 features the same MEMS-based AHRS technology that is in SkyView - the leading EFIS system for experimental and Light Sport Aircraft.  The D2 is a true artificial horizon with responsive and accurate pitch and roll. The AHRS sensors also provide a turn rate indicator and slip/skid ball.  Included is an internal GPS receiver that provides GPS ground speed, altitude, vertical speed, and ground track.

The D2 features a second G-Meter display page that shows a graphical round dial with the current G load factor shown by a needle. It also records the minimum and maximum G's since last reset by the pilot.

Wi-Fi connectivity to mobile devices allows the D2 to send attitude, ground speed, altitude, G's, and ground track to aviation applications in real-time. Those applications can then show that data on a flight information display. Compatible apps include WingX Pro7, Seattle Avionics FlyQ, iHUD Remote, and Air Navigation Pro.
At only 3½" wide, 3¼" high, and 1" thick, the D2 is truly portable. It features an internal rechargeable Li-Ion battery that will lasts at least 4 hours and up to 8 in typical use.

The D2 comes with two portable mounting options, neither of which require tools to use. Therefore, no regulatory approval is required to use a D2 Pocket Panel in any aircraft. The first mount is a RAM® suction cup mount. The second is a 3 ⅛" portable "pinch" mount that allows the D2 to be easily mounted in an empty existing instrument panel hole.

Accessories included with the D2 are an AC power adapter, a DC vehicle power adaptor, a RAM® suction cup mount, 3 ⅛" portable "pinch" mount, internal Li-Ion battery, and external GPS antenna.

Upcoming SkyView Product Releases
New Remote Magnetometer for SkyView

SkyView's ADAHRS provides pilots with all their primary flight instruments in a compact package barely bigger than a deck of cards. In some aircraft, finding a suitable location for the ADAHRS is challenging due to competing location requirements for the air data, attitude, and magnetic heading sensors.

To ease installation, we're announcing the SV-MAG-236, an optional remote magnetometer that lets customers install the magnetic sensors in an ideal location in the aircraft.

The SV-MAG-236 has a list price of $180, but will be available at introduction for $140. The SV-MAG-236 is expected to be released in late April.

SkyView Software 12.2

SkyView Transponder Software Update to support ADS-B 2020 Compliance

SkyView 12.2 includes a software update for SkyView's SV-XPNDR-261 transponders. This update adds support for the ADS-B+ data format required to use the Garmin GTN and GNS (WAAS versions) IFR navigators as a GPS position source for FAA 2020 ADS-B mandate compliance credit. Pilots that have these navigators installed in their aircraft and connected to SkyView's SV-XPNDR-261 are encouraged to update to SkyView 12.2 and enable ADS-B+ format support on both SkyView and their navigator.

ADS-B / TFR Improvements

SkyView now saves ADS-B weather and all active/upcoming TFRs across restarts. This gives the pilot access to weather and TFR information that is still valid when SkyView is turned back on, eliminating the wait for a full refresh from the ADS-B system after a quick stop for fuel or lunch.

Stadium TFRs in the US are now distributed with SkyView's free US aviation and obstacle databases since the FAA no longer broadcasts them via the ADS-B FIS-B service.

SkyView 12.2 is expected to be released in late April.
