As we head to Oshkosh to exhibit and meet with our fellow pilots, it's amazing to think about how far we've come. The first EFIS-D10 was sold in March 2003 - ten years ago this year!
And although the D10/D100 series is turning ten, we're proud to still sell and support those products today. In fact, we just released an update to the D10/D100 series firmware to tackle some autopilot bugs that needed squashing.
And what about the next 10 years? Dynon is poised to continue doing great things! Our success has allowed us to acquire Advanced Flight Systems, joining forces with one of our former competitors. We'll continue to offer both companies' product lines since we know this market likes to have choices, while helping AFS reduce manufacturing costs and utilizing the best technologies of both companies.
Of course, we also have new products and features to talk about. Updates to SkyView and a summer extension to the rebate on the D1 Pocket Panel are detailed below.
If you'll be at AirVenture next week, please come and visit our booth in hangar D!

SkyView Version 7.0 - Charts, Airport Diagrams, Map Items Selection
We are excited to introduce our latest addition to the SkyView Navigation tool box: Charts and Airport Diagrams for the US and Europe. These charts will allow pilots to quickly find and display the IFR procedures they need for airports without having to flip through bulky charts. Additionally, by tightly integrating with SkyView's GPS, the charts are Geo-Referenced and will display the location of the aircraft on the diagrams.
This release, currently slated for September, will include procedure charts including IFR departures, arrivals, approaches, VFR approach charts in Europe, and airport diagrams. Detailed coverage information is available from Seattle Avionics - our data partner for this feature.
Our SkyView Moving Map is also getting a major enhancement in 7.0. In addition to its current ability to pan the map for situational awareness, SkyView will provide the pilot with instant information about whatever airports, obstacles, navaids, waypoints, and airspaces under the cursor. When an item or airspace is selected with the map pointer, it is both highlighted on-screen and accompanied by a useful data block that shows relevant information about the feature - all without any additional button pushing. This is particularly useful to highlight individual airspace segments in busy parts of the country that have multiple airspaces overlaid on top of each other.
We'll be demoing all of these upcoming features in our booth in Hangar D at Oshkosh next week!

Software 5.5 Released for D10/D100 Products
As part of our continued support for our first generation of products, we've just released firmware version 5.5 for the Dynon EFIS-D10A, EMS-D10, EFIS-D100, EMS-D120, and FlightDEK-D180. Firmware for the EFIS-D6 and EFIS-D60 is unchanged and is not affected by this release. This update contains a few small but important fixes to autopilot behavior. See the download page for details.
The 5.5 version of the Dynon Support program, which includes the update, can be downloaded here.
RV-12 customers with D180/D100 products will need a Vans-provided update file that allows their products to upgrade to 5.5. Dynon is currently working with Vans to make those files available as soon as possible.

SkyView COM Radio Shipping Update
We know that this delay has kept some of you from completing your panel as soon as you'd hoped to, and we thank you for your patience and understanding during this delay.
Just before the anticipated ship date of the COM radio, final testing discovered a quality and yield issue. We are working nonstop to fully solve the issues, but the bottom line is that we're unwilling to ship products that don't meet our highest standards.
With this design review underway, we don't currently have an anticipated ship date for the COM radio. For the time being, we are not accepting any additional orders for the SV-COM-C25 until we have fixed the root causes of this issues and have a firm release date. Customer and dealer orders received thus far will remain on file. As is always our policy, no payments will be processed until we have product ready to ship out the door.
Please know that we're doing everything we can to ship a Dynon-quality product as soon as we possibly can.

Dynon Acquires Advanced Flight Systems
Two of the biggest names in experimental and light sport avionics are combining forces with the acquisition of AFS by Dynon.
We know you probably have a lot of questions, so the quick synopsis is: Both companies will stay separate, each with their own development staff, sales, marketing, and tech support. AFS is remaining in Oregon, and there is no consolidation of location or staff.
Robert Hamilton, President of Dynon, commented, "We look forward to working with AFS as collaborators. The homebuilder market has always been the incubator for advanced technologies. Keeping the true innovators working in this industry is important to us, and we have the financial resources, market presence, and company growth to be able to keep AFS going strong in this market for years to come."
Rob Hickman, founder and President of AFS, commented on the acquisition, saying "I am pleased to be working with a company so committed to experimental aircraft. We have long been friendly competitors; their resources, infrastructure, and financial stability allow me to focus on the product development that I love to do. If Dynon had not been in this market, glass panel systems would still cost $20,000 to $30,000, and they will be again if the people truly dedicated to homebuilders aren't working together."
