How's the Market?
September, 2016

September is upon us.   I was one who always loved September -- the cool, crisp air -- the gorgeous azure skies.  It always conjured up new beginnings for me.

September has also become a time to remember -- to remember the first responders and the people in our communities, whose work it is to keep us safe and help us, when times are difficult.  It's hard to believe that it has been 15 years since that momentous September when everything changed.

It's also been 8 years since that September, when we saw housing take a dive with the financial meltdown.   September has really taken on new meaning for many of us!

I smiled when I saw that the highest selling home this month was on Hoyt Lane in Winnetka.  When I was very young, we played and went boating with family friends at the Hoyt's beach.  The Hoyt property was substantial -- still remember swinging on the tire hanging from a big tree in the side yard.  I remember feeling incredibly sad, when they tore down the old house.  In its place went up at least eight 1960s type houses.   I guess that's progress.

As this strange election season is upon us, I think I'm going to "try to remember the kind of September when life was slow and oh, so mellow..."

It ain't over until the fat lady sings....

Recently I was at the close for a client, who was purchasing a home. The clock was ticking away. I had been sitting in the title office for over two hours and was concerned because I had another appointment and needed to leave. The attorney was confident that everything was fine - no problem, etc.  So I left.

I found out later...
