Happy St. David's Day... yes, there was a St. David -- in honor of my Welsh heritage I mention him.

Burr... it's cold outside... I find myself wanting to hunker down and stay warm.  This has been a month of doing a few more inside chores like dealing with the build up of paperwork, working on taxes and, in general, clearing out the clutter.  It seems to be a common theme in the press as well... so spring cleaning is beginning a little early.

Get the clutter out

The post-holiday season is a time many folks are thinking about delving into a major declutter project. While they have put away the clunky serving platters and taken down the trees, many people are struggling to find space in overstuffed drawers for the booties Grandma just knitted them. As our newest belongings accumulate, we might still be holding onto an assortment of wares that have sat in a "regift" pile since this time last year...

Buying a Home? Try It Out

If you can test drive a car, why not a house?

That is the theory behind several programs that let buyers try out a condominium or resort home before they commit to buying. A handful of developers, listing agents and homeowners say they are willing to let potential buyers hang out with the neighbors, have dinner in the kitchen or even spend a night or two in a home before making a final decision...

The Great American Dream, Still Deferred

The housing market has shown signs of life recently. Prices have risen, mortgage rates are very attractive and construction is reviving.

But recall where the market has been over the last 20 years and you'll start to see a less cheerful picture. In fact, from a longer perspective, it appears that the housing market, as it stands now, isn't stable or sustainable. It is, arguably, still on...
