"The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning. The weeks that come before are only a climb from balmy spring, and those that follow a drop to the chill of autumn, but the first week of August is motionless, and hot. It is curiously silent, too, with blank white dawns and glaring noons, and sunsets smeared with too much color."

Greetings!
Welcome back to "How's the Market?" Hard to believe we're already in August... the days just seem to be flying by.
I have found my summer to be usually busy - business-wise. I really believe that we have seen the end of the slump of the housing market and things are turning around. While there is still an overhang of high-end housing, at least we're seeing some movement. I seem to seeing the most activity in the "attached housing" segment (condos, townhouses, etc.) One example is the Crystal Point apartment complex in Lake Forest. This time last year there were 15 active listings. Today there are only 3 available apartments! What a difference a year makes!
Enjoy the last days of summer -- Happy August! |

5 Questions to Ask Before Buying an Old House
With home prices down as much as 30 to 50 percent from their peak several years ago (especially certain real estate markets), many people are deciding with good reason that now is the time to jump into home ownership or invest in real estate.
