Feed the Pig

The second annual Feed the Pig fundraising collection and celebration was held at the Suncoast Credit Union on April 19th. This year more than 150 pigs were distributed and returned with over $4,000 in donations turned in that evening.  Stray pigs are still making their way back so we will have a final count to report soon.

Thank you to Suncoast Credit Union for their financial sponsorship.  Their members also made donations totaling $333.29.  Thank you to their staff for staying after hours to count the change in each individual pig.  This was a great partnership and we look forward to working with their team in the future.

We would also like to recognize a few organizations for their participation and donations:

Brew Burgers restaurants had pigs on each table and made a donation of $487.82.

Oneco Elementary selected Feed the Pig as their service project and each class made donations into an individual pig for a total donation of $442.15.

Daisy Troop #435 and Brownie Troop #936 donated $500.00.  Thank you for sharing your cookie money with other families.

Funds raised from Feed the Pig will be used to continue education, advocacy and caregiver support programs provided to families of children with disabilities in Manatee and Sarasota Counties.

Annual Conference

Thinking About YOU, Thinking About ME

is an intensive one-day conference featuring the work of The Social Thinking Methodology created by Michelle Garcia Winner, a Congressional-award-winning speech-language pathologist.  The Social Thinking Methodology teaches individuals how to think about the social world in order to communicate more effectively. The practical frameworks and strategies help people learn to interpret and respond to abstract social information and produce related social skills for use in the classroom, home and community.

Watch for registration information soon.

Please contact Mary Smith if your business or organization is interested in being a conference sponsor.
