Good Things Happen Every Day at
The Silver Academy
Rachel Zilbering, Principal

Another school year has come and gone and it's been fantastic!  I want to thank all of the teachers, parents and volunteers who have been a part of our Silver Academy this year.

Here are some highlights from the year:
  • Having a great back to school picnic at Green Hills. It was about 20 minutes after a massive thunderstorm!
  • A terrific first day of school
  • Joining together as a school for Tashlich along the Susquehanna River
  • Hershey Park at Sukkot - it rained that day too (maybe the theme for the year!)
  • Shabbat presentations at the Brenner Family Early Learning Center
  • Mr. Herm Minkoff visiting on Veteran's Day and telling his story
  • Robotics Club with Dr. Seth Wolpert
  • Performing at the PA State Capitol on Chanukah
  • Lighting candles and dancing each morning of Chanukah.
  • "Shake it Off" Chanukah style and all of the awesome dance moves
  • Bring a Friend to school day
  • Mitzvah Day - we made beautiful stars for residents of the Jewish Home.
  • Reading and writing celebrations in Mrs. Hurley's class
  • Technion Challenge Club with Dr. Moshe Bell.
  • All of our crazy dress up days and weeks...how many ways can Sam dress like he is swimming?
  • Student council breakfasts
  • The 5th and 6th grade trip to TEVA (I think it was raining, too)
  • 7th and 8th grade trip to see "The Diary of Anne Frank" at the Whitaker Center
  • Model seders with the different classes and their wonderful plays
  • The 2nd Grade Chumash Celebration
  • The 1st Grade Siddur Celebration
  • Our safety talk with Ms. Berman - we all learned the Heimlich maneuver!
  • Our wonderful Kabbalat Shabbat celebrations each month
  • Lag B'Omer Field Day - I especially loved the incredible flags the teams created
  • A Year with Frog and Toad - just last night, what can I say?
These are just some of the highlights, but in reality, every day at The Silver Academy is special.

I wish each of you a good summer, and hope that you have quality time with your family along with some rest and relaxation.

Looking forward to the 2016-2017 school year and 5777!

  • This weeks Torah portion brings to a close the third of the Five Books of Moses.
