סיכום - Summary - The Parsha begins with three simple but very important Hebrew words "Beresheet barah Elohim ... In the beginning G-d created..." Here is one of the most important teachings of Judaism: that there is a G-d and that He is the Creator of all life.
- Creation of the universe and the human race
a. First day: Light b. Second day: Firmament c. Third day: Sea, land, and vegetation d. Fourth day: Heavenly bodies e. Fifth day: Fish and birds f. Sixth day: Land, animals and human beings g. Seventh day: Shabbat - Day of Rest - Freedom of choice - Sin and Punishment. Adam and Eve eat of the forbidden fruit and are expelled from the Garden of Eden.
- Cain and Abel - G-d accepts Abel's offering. Cain becomes jealous and kills his brother Abel. Cain learns of his punishment, which is to wander the earth.
