A Mid-Winter Survival Idea
If you're like me, you're really getting tired of winter! Hopefully, spring is around the corner but I suppose all in good time. So this week while we're all stuck inside, I wanted to share with everyone some thoughts that I've also shared with individual families. Have you been to a library lately?
Of course the foundation of libraries will always be books but libraries are so much more. Many of our local libraries offer engaging activities for children, pre-teens and teenagers. There are also adult classes, lectures, workshops and concerts. Libraries have DVD's, puppets, puzzles and more. Can you tell I'm a fan? But back to the subject of books. There is a wealth of great children's literature today that goes well beyond the scope of what was available when I was growing up. There are picture books with beautiful illustrations, science fiction and dystopian novels, and graphic novels. Really, there is something for everyone, and the librarians are there to help you find it.
Here is website with a list of award winning books (that look fun to read!) organized by grade level: www.cbcbooks.org/ccba/
Students, I would love to hear about what you are reading or what your parents are reading to you!
