On Monday, January 19th, The Silver Academy hosted it's annual Bring a Friend to School Day/Mitzvah Day, and what a wonderful day it was! Students and friends participated in a day of fun and community service. Each grade created their own service projects. From writing cards and collecting stuffed animals for residents of The Jewish Home, to performing plays about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and painting Tzedakah boxes, students gave back in a variety of ways. We even held a Pantene Pro V Beautiful Lengths hair cutting ceremony for those who donated 8" of hair to create wigs for women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment. Three students and one staff member went "under the scissors" during an assembly with the rest of the student body and faculty watching and supporting them. A college-age friend also donated and sent her hair to us for donation.
We had a wonderful day of sharing, caring and friendship with our special guests!
