TORAH READING FOR SHABBAT CHOL HAMOED SUKKOT - Exodus 33:12 - 34:26

סיכום - Summary

  • The Torah reading for the first two days of Sukkot deals with the Sabbath and the holidays which come at different seasons of the year. They are intended to teach the Israelites the sacredness of time.
  • On these days, Israel is to pause, to think about life's meaning and purpose, and to be refreshed.
  • The Torah reading for the Shabbat Chol Hamoed Sukkot deals with the episode of the golden calf.
  • Moses begs for G-d's forgiveness. G-d instructs Moses to hew another set of stone tablets to replace the first which he had broken.
  • G-d renews His covenant with the Israelites, reminding them that they must reject idolatry and worship only Him.
