Kindergarten Judaics with Morah Sarah

Learning from our puppet
 friend, Bentzi
Kindergarten is learning all about Tu B'Shvat - the
birthday of the trees!  We also learned about mosaic art and made trees that grow in Israel from felt shapes.  Bentzi taught us the names of the trees in Hebrew.  We are coloring in the Seven Species (shivat haminim) described in the Bible as being abundant in the land of Israel. The highlight of the week was when the kids invited Bentzi and Bentzi, Jr., to observe them coloring.  The kids were talking to Bentzi about the trees and fruits in Hebrew!  The spontaneous conversations thrilled me and the kids were great at it!  I credit this to the Chalav U'Dvash program that stresses natural conversation and language development, and the discovery of Bentzi, Jr. who had been hiding in the supply closet.

Physical Education with Mrs. Morrison

Mrs. Morrison, our Physical Education teacher, is thrilled to introduce scooters into our phys ed program. Along with a ton of fun, scooters are beneficial to our body's upper and lower muscular strength, along with cardio endurance.

Seventh and Eighth graders are studying fitness in the classroom. Along with this unit, they are learning to use Nautilus equipment at the beautiful JCC facility. They are working on upper/lower body and core strength.
