In the Third Grade Classroom with Mr. Rosenberg

Kittah Gimel (third grade) has been a constant whirlwind of activity! We usually begin our class with a story about someone famous in Jewish History who was born on that date, or about an important incident in Jewish History which occurred on that date. We'll continue our day learning Chumash, having started the portion of Vayayra and working our way through the story of the angels visiting Abraham, and continuing on through the destruction of Sodom and Amorah. We study the Torah portion of the week, and on a monthly basis, we learn what is special in the corresponding Jewish month. We also play a game called sparkle, although not as often as the third grade would like. If you don't know what sparkle is, ask your third grader!

Modern Israel Class with Mr. Chasan

6th and 7th Grades

Each year our 8th Grade students spend two weeks in Israel on a study mission. In order to prepare for this wonderful experience our middle school students take a class called Modern Israel. During the course of the year students learn about all aspects of Modern Israel. Each quarter students have one assignment in which they research a topic, write a short report and then give an oral presentation to the class. The following are the five units that are covered over the school year:

  • Unit one - Israel's Geographic Regions and Cities
  • Unit Two - The Founders of Modern Israel
  • Unit Three - Politics of Israel
  • Unit Four - The difficult path to Israel becoming a State and some of the wars it had to fight
  • Unit Five - Modern Heroes of Israel

A Special Moment in 5th Grade!

Mr. Hart's seven 5th graders got together at 9:10 AM on 11/12/13 to enjoy a chocolate cookie and immortalize the special calendar date with a photo. As the message on the blackboard states, "Seven ate, 9:10, 11/12/13."
