Fourth Grade Judaics
with Mr. Rosenberg

The fourth grade has expanded! We have welcomed two new  students into our "club", Jordan Carlock and Yehudah Nehama. They have quickly become a part of the crew. Although it seems as though we have done nothing but learn and review the Jewish Holidays, including Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah, we have been working on other subjects as well. In Chumash, we've begun to study how Isaac and Rebecca had twins, and how Isaac favored Esau and Rebecca favored Jacob. Our class is slowly transitioning to a " Hebrew only" zone, so if you're passing by in the halls, you're going to hear fewer and fewer English words. We've also been studying the weekly Torah portion in a little more depth. The fourth grade will be embarking on a world wide "trip" as we begin to study "Midot" the positve behavior characteristics that we should all try to emulate.

First Grade General Studies with Miss Brandecker

Experimenting with Floating Vegetables

The first grade had a wonderful start to the 2013-2014 school year. My name is Alison Brandecker (Miss B.) and as the substitute for the first month, I have enjoyed my time with the students. We have learned about:
  • choosing and reading "Just Right" books to help us become stronger readers; also, how to respond to what we've read by talking and writing
  • the numbers 1-20 and position words (first, second, etc.) in math
  • being a good citizen, not only for our country, but for our community at home and at school
Although I will miss the students, they were excited to have Mrs. Hurley return to their class and were looking forward to new classroom projects and activities.
